Thunderbird Aquathon

August 19th, 2018  8am

This year, the fifth year of our races here at Lake Thunderbird in Norman, in addition to the middle distance and long course aquathlons we are also hostingtwo USAT Youth Aquathlon National Series Races, one for ages 7-10 and one for ages 11-15.

In addition, the Middle-Distance Course 1000m swim/5 mile run is also the 2017 Tri-OKC High School Aquathlon Championship race.

Run Course

THE COURSE:  1k swim & 5 mile run; or 2k swim & 10 mile run
The "One Thousand and Five":
1000 yard swim is an open water swim in the bay off the Thunderbird Boathouse, Lake Thunderbird.
The 5 mile run course is looped out and back course consisting of some rolling asphalt road, some trail and some fast fire road.
The water temperature will be measured on race morning to determine whether this will be a wetsuit legal event.

The "Two-Thousand and Ten":
Athletes will cover 2 laps of the same 1000 meter course, exiting the water briefly at the end of each lap; this will make for better spectating, as well as allowing us to count your laps. Athletes will then complete two laps of the 5 mile run course, finishing back at the Boathouse.
