Route 66 Festivus

This historic race is as traditional as they come, the festivus features: an Aquathlon on Thursday, Olympic Distance Triathlon on Saturday,and starting off with a Sprint Triathlon to follow start of Olympic. The Sprint Triathlon will include the 2018 Oklahoma High School State Championship, with entry at a special discounted rate. The Olympic Triathlon will be the featured race as it is home to Oklahoma State Championship Triathlon .Also, an automatic qualifier for USAT National Championship.
RACE STATUS UPDATE:
05/27 PM: A few race officials toured the site this afternoon and THERE IS NO REASON WE SHOULDN'T RACE!
The lake is not mucky at all, and the swimming area was open today. We drove out all the roads and there were no washouts or flooded areas.
Assuming the city says yes, we are full speed ahead for AQ on Thursday and Tri on Saturday.!
With regards to flooding and last Saturday’s tornado in El Reno we’re doing our best to keep our options open.
We want to have the races as scheduled, but not at the expense of a diminished quality experience. If flood and water quality issues allow us to have the full triathlon on 06/01, that is our first choice. We’d rather not switch to a duathlon.
If we simply can’t put on a quality event, choice 2 is to postpone until 06/22.
Race officials will be visiting the site on 05/27, and we will talk with city officials on 05/28. We will have reached a decision in the early afternoon on 05/28.

The 500 meter swim is an open water swim in Lake El Reno. Out and Back. Wetsuits will be optional, lake temperature should approximately be mid 70's. Followed by a flat, fast out and back 2 mile run along the winding paved asphalt road.
OLYMPIC DISTANCE TRI & AQUABIKE
The 1500 meter swim is an open water swim in Lake El Reno. (NOTE: At the Race Director's discretion the Olympic will either be a 1 loop course or a 2-loop triangle swim). Wetsuits should be permitted, lake temperature should approximately be mid 70's. Watch Facebook for lake temperature updates. The 40K bike course is an out and back, 2-loop version of the sprint course wihth the turn around just before transition. The 10K run course is paved, flat and winding asphalt road, (2-time) out and back course.
Aquabike event is ONLY offered on the Route 66 Olympic distance event (1500m swim-40k bike). Same course as the Olympic Distance Triathlon, you only have a 100 yard run across the finish line!
SPRINT DISTANCE TRIATHLON (No Aquabike)
The 750 meter swim is an open water swim in Lake El Reno. Triangle course. Wetsuits should be permitted, lake temperature should approximately be mid 70's. The 20K mile bike course is out and back, the majority being on Route 66 with a few slight inclines. The 5K run course is paved, flat and winding asphalt road, out and back course.
Aquathon on Thursday- Registration will begin at 5:30pm with race start at 6:30pm.
Saturday at 7:20 am, there will be a mandatory athlete meeting with the Race Director and Head Referee at the pavilion
Olympic Distance- Transition will close at 7:15am with Race Start at 7:30am
Sprint Distance- Transition will close at 7:15am with Race Start at 7:45am
is available on Friday starting at 3:30 pm at the Race Site for the Sprint and Olympic Distance Athletes. There will be packet pickup available on Saturday.
DIRECTIONS TO EVENT
From OKC take I-40 west to El Reno, exit Country Club Rd (Exit 123). Go north 1 mile to Elm St. Go west (turn left) on Elm St. and road will lead straight in the parking/race start area. Look for the El Reno water tower. Or Click Here!

USAT SANCTIONED EVENT
This is a USAT Sanctioned Event. It will follow all USAT rules and guidelines. All participants MUST have a valid ID along w/ a USAT License. If you do not have a vaild USAT #, then you MUST purchase a one-day USAT Membership for $15. You can purchase a one-day or annual USAT membership direct from USAT.
